There are no prerequisites to become a Zumba® instructor. If you love to dance and motivate others, you're all set. Training covers everything you need to know, no matter your fitness level or background. You will learn about the basics of leading a class, choreography, cueing, and more.

Your Path to a Fun and Flexible Career

There is a high demand for Zumba® instructors. This career will adapt to your own goals, whether you want extra income or a full-time profession that truly excites you. Work is versatile. You choose what to charge per class, how many students to teach, and how many classes to fit in a week. Run your own business, working in person or online, independently or teaching at fitness facilities, dance studios, or parks.

Your Simple 3-Step Path to Getting Licensed

The process to become an official Zumba® Instructor is simple. You only need to register online, complete online or in-person training, and start working. You must be over 18 years old to attend training. If you are 15 to 17 years old, you will need a parental permission letter and a signed liability form.

Step 1: Choose Your Perfect Training

The Zumba Basic 1 Instructor Training is the best place to start. Here, you will get the foundations for teaching a Zumba®  group fitness class. You will get materials including a manual, review videos, and a certificate of completion.

If you want to teach older adults, you might select Zumba® + Gold: Dual License. This option covers the foundations of the basic training and how to adapt it to an active, older audience.

If your passion is to teach children, Zumba® + Kids: Dual License program and how to modify it for kids ages 4-6 and 7-11.

Step 2: Pick Your Learning Style

The Zumba® Instructor Licensing Program is flexible. You can choose from livestream, in person, and on demand options, all offering the same content and license. In person training takes place at a physical location and typically takes about nine hours. On demand training is self-paced with 8 - 10 hours of content. Livestream is an interactive training session held in real time via Zoom.

Step 3: Complete Your Training, No Test Required

You don't need a formal test to get your license. Once you finish training to get your license, you can start teaching as soon as you feel ready.

Keep the Party Going With Your Official License

Your license is valid for six months from the date of your training. However if you become a Zumba® Instructor Network (ZIN™) member your license will be valid as long as you are a member. ZIN™ Membership is a great way to keep an indefinite license and get monthly music and choreos, exclusive apps, and global support. If you do not join ZIN™, to renew your license, you can retake one of our basic trainings.
