In person Zumba® trainings are a popular option, as you can learn alongside other students and work directly with a Zumba® professional. Learning from a Zumba® expert can ensure you receive the best training possible and prepare you to lead your own classes when you are licensed. On demand training features 16 modules of educational content, which takes approximately 10 hours to complete.
You can also receive your Zumba® training virtually with livestream instructor training. Attending a livestream Zumba® instructor training course features all the benefits of traditional Zumba® training in the comfort of your own home.
There is only one requirement to become a Zumba® instructor, and that is to be 18 years of age or older. While age is the only true requirement, a passion for Zumba® and the joy of helping people become the best version of themselves possible can help you succeed as a dance fitness instructor. It's not necessary, but some people choose to go to a Zumba® class before training to get a feel for the energy needed to host a class.
To receive your Zumba® Instructor License, you will need to take Zumba® Basic 1 training. This course will give you the foundational knowledge of Zumba® and the tools you need for a successful career as a dance fitness instructor. During this Zumba® instructor training, you will learn about the foundational aspects of Zumba® and the four core rhythms — reggaeton, cumbia, salsa and merengue.

You can choose from in person classes as well as holding classes virtually, allowing you to work from home. Gyms and fitness centers are often great places to work as a Zumba® instructor, as these locations typically feature unique exercise classes for their members. As almost everyone who visits a gym cares about their health and getting exercise, many gym goers may be intrigued as they see you leading a class and choose to attend your next session.

To hold a virtual Zumba® class, you need a computer, internet connection and enough space in your home to showcase your moves.
Your Zumba® Instructor License is valid for six months after you receive it. At the end of the six months, once your license expires you would need to retake Zumba® Basic 1 training to renew your license.
