How to Register for Zumba® Instructor Courses

The training you'll register for is Zumba® Basic 1. Zumba® Basic 1 will teach future instructors everything there is to know about leading a Zumba® class. You'll learn all of the basics in choreography, music styles and how to successfully lead a group fitness class.

You can sign up for an in person Zumba® Basic 1 training course near you on our website. In this training, you'll mingle with and learn amongst other potential Zumba® Instructors. This is a great time to network and immerse yourself in the strong Zumba® community. Many individuals enjoy the fun and energetic training course and the experience they receive before teaching their own Zumba® class.

If you cannot find an in person training close to you or cannot attend the training course, online instructor trainings are a fantastic alternative. The livestream Zumba® training gives participants the opportunity to interact with each other and the instructor via Zoom. The on demand training course provides 16 educational modules that go over the basics of teaching a Zumba® class. You'll complete the 10 hours of content on your own time while you have access to an online instructor to answer any questions.

All Zumba® licensing options provide the information and resources you'll need to start your career as a Zumba® instructor.

Common Zumba® Instructor Questions

1. How Long Is My Zumba® Instructor License Valid?

   Your Zumba® Instructor License is valid for six months after you first receive it. If you have a ZIN™ membership, your license will never expire as long as you continue your membership.

2. What Should I Wear to Instructor Training?

   You should wear comfortable athletic wear and supportive sneakers to your instructor training — basically, wear what you'd wear to a normal Zumba® class.

3. What Should I Bring to Instructor Training?

   Bring a water bottle, towel, healthy lunch and a sweatshirt to your instructor training session.

4. When Can I Start Teaching?

   You may begin teaching Zumba® right after you receive your Zumba® Instructor License. Some instructors wait a bit, taking other Zumba® classes until they feel ready and confident to lead a class.

5. Do I Need to Be CPR Certified Before My Instructor Course?

   No, you do not need your CPR certification before attending an instructor course. Some fitness instructor jobs may require you to have the certification before you start teaching.
