Requirements to Become a Zumba® Instructor

The only requirement to become a Zumba® instructor in Arkansas is being 18 years of age or older. While age is the only requirement, a passion for dance fitness and leading a healthy lifestyle can help you on your journey to becoming a Zumba® instructor. Previous experience as a fitness instructor can be beneficial but is not necessary to start your career as a Zumba® instructor.

Zumba® Basic 1 Training

To become a Licensed Zumba® Instructor, you will need to complete Zumba® Basic 1 training, designed to provide you with the foundation you need to lead a dance fitness class. During Basic 1 training, you will learn the four core rhythms of Zumba®, including merengue, salsa, reggaeton and cumbia. You will also learn how to apply these core rhythms to music and create an exciting dance routine.

Basic 1 training also provides you with an understanding of the science of Zumba®. You will have a strong understanding of the physical benefits of dance fitness based in cardio, strength and flexibility. In addition to these fundamental aspects of Zumba®, you will also learn various tips, tricks and best practices to hold an engaging exercise class that offers a rewarding workout for students of all skill levels.

While some may think a Zumba® instructor only works at a gym, there are limitless ways to utilize your Zumba® Instructor License. Do I Need to Renew My Zumba® Instructor License?

After taking your Zumba® insructor training you will receive your license which will be valid for 6 months. However, you can enroll in the Zumba® Instructor Network (ZIN™), an engaging program that allows you to keep your license active beyond 6 months. As long as you are a ZIN™ member, your licence will remain active. In addition, you will receive monthly music and choreography, various marketing tools and community support that willn enhance your skills and experience as a Zumba® instructor.
