Updated May 2019 ...
I'm a life-long dancer and veteran Zumba® Fitness instructor having been licensed since November 2009. For over 20 years, I've been a dance teacher to both kids and adults and have been a dancer for over 35 years. I'm also a former board member for the Dance Alliance of the Capital Region.
Dance has always been an integral part of my lifestyle ever since I was a little girl. In addition to teaching all ages and fitness abilities, I've traveled the country to attend conventions and trainings from master choreographers. This long career of studying dance has enabled me to be cognizant of safe, effective movement.
My teaching style incorporates genre authenticity with full body fitness. I pride myself on delivering crystal clear execution of the choreography as well as concise cueing to ensure an easy-to-follow class experience.
I was the very first instructor to teach Zumba® Fitness at both the North and South Colonie School District Continuing Education programs as well as the now closed Ballroom on Sunset in Latham. From February 2014 through April 2019, I taught at Danceland, also located in Latham and now closed. A proper friction-free and floating floor is imperative for both enabling me to teach to my full potential and, more importantly, for everyone's wellbeing. Since there are very few floors still available that meet that criteria, I have decided to take a sabbatical from teaching Zumba® Fitness to spend more time this spring and summer with my family. I hope to determine my next course of action by October 2019.
