My name is Katie, some of you may call me Zumba girl. I want
to take you through my journey on how I became a Zumba instructor!
I used to be a girl that weighed 220lbs and I was a size 22.
I was a woman that hated exercising! One day I was with a friend and we went
shopping at the mall. I walked into Lane Bryant (because this was my favorite
store for plus size women) and my friend would stand at the front of the store
and would not go in because she did not want to be seen in that store,
needless to say, she is no longer my friend now.
At this point in my life I was really depressed and told my
doctor I hate exercising and I need help losing weight. My doctor started to
prescribe me diet pills. The diet pills were speeding up my heart rate and
making me sick. I love going to nightclubs and dancing, so I tried Zumba in
2012. I fell in love with Zumba from my very first class. The class was an hour
long and I stuck with it. The instructor would encourage me to not give up when
my legs were tired and I was out of breath (because I had asthma, I wanted to
give up!)
I have lost over 100 pounds with Zumba and cutting out my
pepsi and drinking alcohol. I must say, I do go out for that cheat meal once a week and go to my favorite
restaurant to get those cheese fries and loaded baked potato.
This all inspired me
to become an instructor. Remember that friend I spoke about in the first paragraph?
I saw her at the supermarket and I went over to her to say hello, and she had
no clue who I was because I lost so much weight! This was the best feeling in
my life and inspired me to become a Zumba instructor.
I was the girl the said (I CANNOT DO this), I was the girl
that never danced well, I was the girl that said I am hungry and I will eat
what I want, I was the girl that said, I COULD NEVER BE IN FRONT OF THE CLASS
AND LEAD A SONG. I am now a true believer that anyone can allow change to overcome
them and be STRONG! Take my class and you will be inspired!
