The Zumba Academy provides many opportunities for fitness and dance instructors to learn how to teach Zumba classes. New students, aspiring to be first-time instructors, are also welcome to begin their teaching journey with the Zumba program.

Anyone interested in becoming a Zumba Instructor must attend a Zumba Instructor Training Workshop, and then must keep their instructor status current through the variety of courses offered by the Zumba Academy.

The first step in becoming a Zumba Instructor is to attend one of these basic courses: Zumba Basic Steps Level 1 or Zumba Gold.

Zumba Gold®

This course is designed for any instructor who wishes to teach the active adult population or the true beginner (deconditioned) participant. Zumba Gold addresses the anatomical, physiological, and psychological needs specific to these populations. It also includes a Zumba chair workout. While Zumba Basic prepares you to teach the general exercising population, Zumba Gold specifically prepares you to teach the active older adult. Prerequisite: None.
